Fast Radio Bursts Linked to Magnetars

Two independent teams (CHIME/FRB and STARE2) simultaneously detected a millisecond-duration fast radio burst from the Galactic magnetar SGR 1935+2154 in April 2020 -- the first FRB traced to a specific known source and confirming magnetars as at least one real progenitor of the fast-radio-burst phenomenon (first identified as a class in 2007).
