Antoine, L'Huillier & Lewenstein's 1996 theoretical proposal that high-order harmonic generation in intense laser-atom interactions naturally produces trains of attosecond-duration light pulses. Bare "attosecond pulse train" tested clean pre-1996 via OpenAlex noise test (a single, unrelated 1965 metallurgy paper).
